One Mile Fire was reported at 23 acres as of Friday, according to Shoshone National Forest.
The fire was initially reported Tuesday afternoon. The blaze is on the south side of U.S. Highway 212 (Beartooth Highway), three miles west of its junction with Wyo. Highway 296 (Chief Joseph Scenic Highway).
Crews are working to confine the fire to the One Mile Creek drainage. Additional resources were ordered, including a helicopter and the La Grande Interagency Hotshots.
One Mile is burning in steep terrain within the area of the 1988 Clover Mist Fire.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, according to the Forest Service.
