Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem celebrates 120th anniversary

Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem will celebrate its 120th anniversary on Saturday, beginning with a worship service at 11 a.m. The service will be followed by a luncheon and a program with music and a historical presentation.

“The actual date for the founding of the congregation is Oct. 29, 1899, but not too many people are around to remember that,” said Pastor Jais H. Tinglund. “We have chosen to have our celebration in the summer to make it easier for friends of the congregation from far and near to come and celebrate with us, and to make for a better celebration.”

Pastor John Hill of Casper, president of the Wyoming District of the Lutheran Church-Missoury Synod, will preach at the worship service.
