Yellowstone Motors Challenge: Participants compete in American Ninja-style event Wednesday

Posted

No obstacle is too great for these fairgoers.

Participants ages 14 and up are encouraged to test their skills against the Yellowstone Motors Challenge on Wednesday night in the Main Grandstands at the Park County Fairgrounds.

“The Yellowstone Motors Challenge mimics an event similar to American Ninja that you may see on TV,” said Park County Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Mike Garza. “It is an inflatable obstacle course that will challenge individuals against one another in timed runs through the obstacle course.”

Specifically, participants will race alongside other contestants by running through the course on dual racing lanes. The two competitors will have to clear identical obstacles on both sides.

Featured on the Ninja Nation course, obstacles such as cargo bags, balance logs, tick-tocks, trapeze bars, and the Warped Wall will be included.

“The fair board thought that it would be a good family-oriented, fun challenge that would allow participants of various age groups to compete,” Garza said. “The main goal is just to provide some low-cost entertainment in the grandstand area that emphasizes friendly competition and allows participants to showcase their physical fitness.”

To register for the course, participants can go online to parkcountyeventsandfair.com. Choose the grandstand event page under the drop-down menu beneath the Park County Fair tab, pick the 2021 Park County Fair Tickets in blue highlight and then select the July 28 date. Scroll down to see the Yellowstone Motors Challenge-Participation. A signed waiver and a $15 fee must be paid in order to take part in the competition.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. Wednesday and the challenge will begin at 7 p.m. Grandstand seating will also be available to watch the event: $10 for adults, $8 for children (ages 3-12) and $15 for box seats. Wednesday gate admission is included with the purchase of a grandstand ticket.

In order to compete, contestants must be wearing closed-toe athletic shoes and will be required to take off any jewelry that may catch on the obstacles as well.

“Ninja Nation is thrilled to be a party of the 2021 Park County Fair,” said Amber Nieto, a representative of Ninja Nation. “Hydration and warming up/stretching beforehand is highly encouraged.”
