Dear Editor:
You are the owner of a franchise business. I own an accounting firm that provides hardware and software accounting functions for businesses. I begin to provide these accounting services for all of the franchises through a signed contract with the franchise owner’s board of directors.
All sales receipts must be scanned into the accounting system and are never available to you, the individual franchise owner.
In addition, all accounts payable run through my accounting system, again, without any oversight from you.
Not only do you lack ANY control over your own accounting functions, if you, or if you have an impartial third party, view or audit the data or in any way inspect the equipment you are subject to substantial financial penalties assessed by my firm.
I have to question the intelligence of a board of directors that would allow themselves and their franchise owners hostage by a vendor. I believe this to be a fairly simple analogy of what happens when we use the voting machines in Wyoming.
