Volunteers sought for Saturday project outside Cody

Posted

On Saturday morning, the Bureau of Land Management will partner with the community at the Hogan and Luce Recreation Site north of Cody to celebrate National Public Lands Day.

“Hogan and Luce is a beautiful recreation area and we’ll make it even better by planting 100 trees for National Public Lands Day,” said BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Rick Tryder. “I hope you’ll join us for this worthwhile project, and maybe stay for a picnic or some fishing after.”

Participants will meet at 9 a.m. in the Hogan and Luce parking area. Wear good work shoes or boots and bring work gloves, a shovel, lunch and water. All volunteers will receive a free T-shirt.

To reach Hogan and Luce, travel 18 miles north of Cody on Wyo. Highway 120. Turn left onto Park County Road 7RP and continue approximately 5 miles. Look for the Hogan Luce Recreation Site sign and turn left onto the 1-mile-long access road to the site.

National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer event for public lands. Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, this celebration brings out thousands of volunteers to help restore and improve public lands around the country.

For more information, contact Tryder at 307-578-5900 or rtryder@blm.gov. For more information about NPLD visit www.neefusa.org/npld. Organizers ask participants to use the hashtag #NPLD or @PublicLandsDay when posting on social media.
