Volunteers sought for project at Five Springs Falls

The Bureau of Land Management is inviting volunteers to help make some improvements to the Five Springs Falls Campground on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The shared conservation stewardship project is being held in celebration of National Public Lands Day.

Volunteers are invited to spend the day with BLM staff repainting parking barriers, cleaning out fire rings, adding gravel to campsites, marking and clearing trail, repairing wash-outs and staining picnic tables and benches.

“Events like this are valuable both to the community and to public lands,” said BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Rick Tryder. “I hope volunteers take the day to enjoy the great outdoors and camaraderie of the community.”

Participants will meet at 9 a.m. in the lower campground parking lot of Five Springs Falls, located 22 miles east of Lovell along U.S. Highway 14-A. Volunteers will receive a National Public Lands Day T-shirt, but should bring good work shoes or boots, work gloves, lunch and water.

National Public Lands Day began in 1994 with three sites and 700 volunteers. In 2018, 113,055 volunteers contributed 452,220 hours on service projects at 1,176 sites across the country.

For more information, contact Tryder at 307-578-5900 or rtryder@blm.gov.
