Velva Celia Black, 88, was called home to be with the Lord Sunday morning, Dec. 12, 2021, while residing at St. Johns Nursing home in Billings, Montana.

She was born Velva Celia Reynolds Oct. 2, 1933, in Livingston, Montana, the daughter of Valen C. and Nellie L. (Skillman) Reynolds.

She married Bennie Rhea Black on July 7, 1951, in Livingston, Montana. Velva and Bennie lived in Powell, where she maintained the family home. After the death of her husband, Velva moved back to Livingston, to be near her family, working at the hospital until she retired.

Survivors include her brother Vernon Reynolds of Radcliff, Kentucky; children: Robert Black of Billings, Pamela Black of Billings and Virginia (Steven) Webb of Ballantine, Montana; grandsons: Justin (Trista) Briscoe of Fargo, North Dakota, and Tyrel (Tonya) Briscoe of Harlowton, Montana; granddaughter Whitney Webb of Billings; great-grandchildren: Gavin, Wyatt, and Kinsley, of Fargo, North Dakota, Ruger and Emberly, of Harlowton, Montana, Tayven, and Cesily and Stormi, of Billings; plus many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Velva was preceded in death by her husband Bennie, her parents Valen and Nellie, sister Dorothy Fletcher, brother Virgil Reynolds and son Billy Black.

Services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 10 a.m., at Cremation & Funeral Gallery, 29 Eighth Street West, Billings, Montana. Burial will be in Powell. To leave condolences for the family, please visit www.cfgbillings.com
