Velicia “Billie” McCullough passed away at St. Vincent hospital on Dec. 10, 2019.

She was born in Eloy, Arizona, on Jan. 15, 1954, to Petra Lopez and Jose Gonzales, and was raised by the late Eugenio Sanchez.

Billie spent her early years helping raise her 10 siblings, keeping the house clean and cooking — always cooking. She worked in the healthcare field all her adult life, in various positions, including nursing assistant and home health aide. She truly loved helping people in their time of need.

Her favorite hobby was cooking, especially tamales. They were the best! She loved her granddaughters. They were her everything and especially her great-granddaughter, Jennifer. She touched many people’s lives and will be forever remembered for her kindness and her smile.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jose Gonzales.

She is survived by her daughter Darby (Jason) Thomas; son Tony Ebneter; brothers, Paul (Candy) Gonzales, Victor Lopez, Alfonzo Lopez, Leonardo (Sue) Sanchez, and Eddie Sanchez; sisters, Ayda (Tom) Hamann, Molly Gould, and Dora Sanchez; granddaughters, Lindzy (Corey) Elton, Aschten, Dacean, and Gabby Thomas; and her great-granddaughter, Jennifer Elton.

As she had requested, cremation has taken place, and services will come at a later date.
