Campers ages 3-18 years old can flock to Cabre Gym next week to take part in the Northwest College volleyball All Skills Camp starting on Monday and running throughout the week.

Camp for high schoolers will begin with a morning session from 9-11 a.m. Monday, July 8, with the athletes having an afternoon session from noon-2 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday before the high school camp concludes on Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m.

Once the high school is done, the middle schoolers will take to the floor on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30-2:30 p.m. for their first session.

Middle school athletes will then have a morning and afternoon session from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, with the afternoon sessions starting at noon and running until around 2 p.m. on those days.

Northwest coach Scott Keister said the camp will focus on each of the individual skills for the athletes, before breaking out into offensive and defensive concepts at the middle school and high school level.

“We want to highlight each skill, then we dive into the offense and defensive systems a little bit,” Keister said.

Cost for the middle and high schoolers will be $150 for the week.

Simultaneously throughout the week, the Trappers will be hosting the Tiny Trappers (third through fifth graders) and the Teeny Trappers (kindergarteners through second graders) in Cabre Gym.

Those athletes will play from 3-4 p.m. from Monday through Thursday, with the Trappers also welcoming the Itty Bitty Trappers, ages 3-5, to play in the racquetball courts at the same time.

“(With) the little kids we focus on technique and make sure they’re doing something right,” Keister said. “Then the middle and high school kids we focus on in-game action.”

For younger kids the cost is $50 for the week, with every camper receiving a T-shirt. Keister said the camp was already almost full by Monday morning, and there will be seven or eight Trapper players in attendance throughout to help teach.
