Beating the heat and heading back inside to the pool, three Powell Piranha swimmers made their way to Gillette to compete in the Summer Spectacular the weekend of June 17-19.

Kobus Diver led the way for the Piranhas in the first action of the summer, earning a third-place finish in the 800 freestyle with a time of 11:05.82. He also finished in fourth place in both the 400 free and the 1500 free, along with a fifth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.

He placed in the top 10 in six of his eight events and qualified for the summer state meet in seven out of eight events.

Kaitlin Diver followed just behind, placing fifth in the 400 free with a time of 6:00.09 and sixth in the 100 fly. She placed in the top 10 in seven of her eight events, earning four summer finals qualifying times.

Kate Miller was the other attendee for the Piranhas, earning a 10th-place finish in the 100 back with a time of 1:22.69 and placed in the top 20 for all six of her events.
