Thayne Hardee Hopkin was born on March 18, 1948, to Harold (Whitey) Hopkin and Alyce (Hardee) Hopkin in Lovell. He left this world at age 71 on Jan. 29, 2020. Though he would have preferred to go with a fishing pole in hand, he went while watching the fish as he was snorkeling in the Caribbean.

Thayne and Brenda were married on Dec. 17, 1969, in the Salt Lake Temple. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary surrounded by all their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Thayne was a friend to all and was happiest in the service of others. He served faithfully in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Thayne enjoyed fishing, taking his boat out on the water and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by his mother Alyce, wife Brenda (Walker), mother-in-law Billie Walker, his children Kurt (Leslie), Phillip (Mindi), Trevor (Brenda K.), Michelle (Mark), Kent (Emilee), Kevin (Karleah), 30 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Whitey and father-in-law Richard Walker.

Services will be as follows: Viewing on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Chapel 527, West Seventh Street, in Powell, from 10-10:50 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at the Penrose Cemetery in Penrose, following the funeral service.
