Tell the council to stop the proposed slaughterhouse

Dear Editor:

I am certainly happy that the city doesn’t care about ours and our neighbors’ property values dropping. At one of the meetings they claimed the cows were as quiet as your neighbor’s hair dryer. Don’t know who they think we are, but I’ve lived around screaming cows my whole life and the whole town will get to hear it.

The roads will have cow crap all over them and when the business fails do you think the room full of offal will be cleaned up? A slaughterhouse would be a great thing for the area if it was outside of town! It doesn’t belong right next to our houses! This needs to stop now!

I would like to point out that there was a kid wanting to raise a few chickens inside city limits for a 4-H project and the city told him he couldnt have livestock in town. But it’s OK to have up to 30 cattle in town twice a week to slaughter them? It’s OK to have them in town at the cost of our property value and our comfort in our neighborhood?

This will negatively affect everyone on this side of town. Tell the city that we don’t want the slaughterhouse inside city limits! There are plenty of places outside town and Cody is already set up to permit slaughterhouses inside city limits. This guy is from Cody, let him put it next to his house!
