Another swim meet, another Powell win.

The Powell High School girls’ swimming and diving team extended its undefeated season on Thursday, finishing first place at the varsity triangular at the Powell Aquatic Center. The Panthers scored 461 points, well ahead of Cody’s 358.5 and Worland’s 251.5.

Of the 12 events, the Panthers finished first place in seven of them.

Winners include Addison Moretti (200 freestyle), Elizabeth Liggett (200 individual medley, 100 freestyle), Emma Karhu (1-meter six dives), Grace Sapp (100 backstroke) and Emma Mitchell (100 breaststroke). The team of Sapp, Mitchell, Lucia Harder and Croix Tryon also won the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:03.28.

Powell recorded 22 new personal best times at the meet. Additionally, the Panthers added two new state qualifiers in the 100 butterfly. Lilyan Halter and Croix Tryon recorded times of 1:13.75 and 1:15.98, respectively, in the event to beat the qualifying mark of 1:16.00.

This week, the Panthers will participate in two events: a dual in Cody today (Tuesday), and a home quadrangular on Saturday. Powell hasn’t finished anywhere but first this season, and the Panthers will attempt to keep that perfect record intact.
