On Friday, Park County Sheriff’s Deputy Sergeant Chad McKinney officially retired from service. McKinney began his service with Park County in 2006 as a detention deputy and transferred to road duty six months later. He was promoted to sergeant in 2012, assuming supervisory duty over the Cody District deputies. Prior to working for the sheriff’s office, McKinney served with the Cody Police Department and the Yakima, Washington, Police Department.
“We thank Sgt. McKinney for his service to the citizens of Park County and wish him well in his future endeavors,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement posted to Facebook.
McKinney and his family are moving to the Oregon coast, where he plans on working in the charter fishing business, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff Scott Steward said in June that he expects at least three deputies in the Cody district to retire this summer.
