Sandra (Sandy) Lou Stecher passed away on May 18, 2020, at age 81. Sandy was born May 22, 1938, in Basin, Wyoming, the daughter of the late Harold and Alice Stoudt and sister to the late Homer Stoudt. Sandy lived with her family briefly in Billings, Montana, and then in Powell, where she attended school from kindergarten on and graduated from high school.

In her senior year of high school she saw a handsome young man, Thomas Stecher, from neighboring Lander, Wyoming, who was playing football and basketball at Northwest Community College. They became sweethearts and were married in June of 1956. They soon began their family and Sandra became the nurturing, loving mother of four daughters. As the family grew, Sandy and Tom lived in Douglas, Cheyenne, and Casper, Wyoming.

Friends and family will remember and miss Sandy for her infectious laugh, often times at herself, and her quiet words of encouragement and wisdom. She had a peaceful way about her. Sandy always had a kind word to say and if she wasn’t saying it, she would speak it with her eyes. Her facial expressions could convey exactly what she was thinking. She was always up for fun. She was always known for her beautiful smile, as it brought smiles to those that were fortunate enough to see it.

Sandy fought a valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease with grace and courage. During her last years of life, she never complained and saved her sense of humor for the hardest of times.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Tom Stecher, of Stevensville, Montana; four daughters, Vickee Kincaid of Casper, Wyoming, Tammy and husband Jack Argyle of Littleton, Colorado, Jenny and husband Dan Hilgenkamp of Lakewood, Colorado, and Melanie Stecher of Helena, Montana; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
