On Friday, July 1, 2022, Robert (Bob) Leonard LaFrentz — loving husband, father, and grandfather — passed away at the age of 78.

Bob was born on Oct. 18, 1943, in Davenport, Iowa, to Robert and June (Scherff) LaFrentz. He earned a degree from Eastern Illinois University in Physics and Chemistry, followed by a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Northern Iowa. For 35 years, Bob worked as a research engineer for John Deere before retiring to Wyoming. On April 20, 1968, he married his college sweetheart, Myra Kay Hopper. They raised one daughter, Aimee, and two sons, Michael and Benjamin.

Bob had two main passions in his life: love for his Lord and the outdoors. As a disciple of Christ, he volunteered his time and talents within the church by serving as an adult Bible study teacher, a grandpa at Royal Family Kids’ Camp; he supported many of New Life’s missions including the Foster Closet, Bible Ministry, and Backpack Ministry.

As an avid outdoorsman, Bob spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. He also took great pride in maintaining an immaculate yard. His legacy is that he has passed these passions onto his children and grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Daryl, and his sister Sally.

He is survived by his wife, Myra, their three children: Aimee Lenz (her spouse Robert and their children Jacob, Kathryn, and Gabriella), Michael (his spouse Chandra and their children Abigail and Madeleine), and Benjamin (his spouse Stacey and their children Myles, Bryce, and Sydnee), and his brother Dean.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at New Life Church in Powell, Wyoming, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 9 a.m. Please come and share this celebration of life with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s honor to the New Life Church Bible Ministry.
