Robert ‘Bob’ Frank Sherman

Robert (Bob) Frank Sherman died Dec. 20, 2020, at Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home at the age of 99 (three months shy of 100).

Bob was born March 24, 1921, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Frank and Alberta Sherman, later moving to Glen Haven, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Bloomington High in 1939. 

On March 12, 1948, he married B. Jean Edwards of Bloomington, Wisconsin, where they started their married life on the family farm in Glen Haven.

In 1962 they moved to Powell. In 1965 he became a police officer for the Powell Police Department. He retired from the City of Powell in 1989. Never one to sit around, he worked for a time for Northrup Farms. After some health problems he worked at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center for many years. 

Bob was a member of the Powell United Methodist Church, Powell IOOF, 50-plus year member of AF and AM Absaroka Lodge #30 of Powell, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Sheridan, 50-plus year member of Kalif Temple (Shrine) of Sheridan and 50-plus year member of the Order of Eastern Star of Powell. He served as president of the Powell Valley Riding Club and the Big Horn Basin Fox Trotter Club.

Bob always said that every man should have a good wife, a good dog and a good horse. He was lucky to have had all three.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Alberta, his loving wife Jean, brother-in-law Fred Edwards, sister-in-law Joyce Reichers and her husband Dean, sister-in-law Jeanette Sherman and son-in-law Robert Edwards.

He is survived by all six of his children, Vicky Edwards of Powell; Patricia (Alan) Pickering of Cody; Dennis Sherman (Donna) of Vidar, Texas; Roger Sherman (Brenda) of Roseau, Minnesota; Connie Susan (Ron) Mann of Powell; and Frank Sherman (Kelly) of Walker, Michigan; as well as 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, brother John Sherman of Bloomington, Wisconsin, and sister-in-law Kathy Edwards of Bloomington, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested your donation go to the Powell Library (Park County Library Foundation – Powell) at 217 E. 3rd St. Powell, WY 82435.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
