President Trump did not incite violence

Posted

Dear Editor:

David Hoffman and Liz Cheney watch too much CNN and their ilk as they accuse President Trump of “inciting an insurrection.” Yet the quote they are hanging their hats on is this: “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol Building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

This statement does nothing to incite violence, nor does it meet the criteria of the definition of the word “insurrection”: a violent uprising against an authority or government.

His words were not threatening, nor harmful, but was a First Amendment right to call for peaceful protest.

Only those who watched/listened to leftist media, which has left true journalism in the trash can for the last four-plus years, believe that statement was urging violence.

The articles of impeachment also failed to mention that he twice denounced the violence, and that the break-in occurred even before his speech ended.

But since the motto is “never let a good crisis go to waste,” the Democratic House and 10 backstabbing Republicans are all wasting their time and our tax money on a false impeachment circus.

Sincerely,

Cathy Selby
