Four Powell students recently competed in the 2020 Special Olympics Wyoming Winter Games.
Galen Couture, Emily Sessions, Matthew Pool and Noah Kiser each participated in the 25-meter snowshoe race and 50-meter snowshoe race at the Area I games at the Meadowlark Ski Lodge in the Bighorn Mountains.
Kiser topped the Division 3 competition with gold medals in the 25-meter and 50-meter.
Couture won the gold in the 25-meter Division 1, and the silver in the 50-meter Division 2.
Sessions took home the gold in the 50-meter Division 5, and the silver in the 25-meter Division 4.
Pool won a pair of silver medals in the 25-meter Division 3 and 50-meter Division 4.
“The Powell coaches were proud of their hard work in their training, efforts during the competition and their sportsmanship that they showed towards others,” said coach Chris Wolff.
He said the group has a busy winter and will participate in the Eagle Mount Adaptive Ski program in February and March.
