Twelve students from across Wyoming — including Cody Fisher of Powell — were recently recognized for their artwork by Gov. Mark Gordon.
A July 13 ceremony in Cheyenne celebrated the dozen finalists from Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom 2020 Bookmark Contest. They were honored for their achievement in art, and excellence in interpreting agriculture and natural resource concepts.
The University of Wyoming College of Agriculture and Natural Resources sponsored Fisher’s bookmark, which was chosen among more than 1,900 contest submissions from second, third, fourth and fifth graders around Wyoming.
Fisher recently completed the fifth grade at Westside Elementary School, where he was taught by Abram Graham. His artwork — along with those drawn by the 11 other finalists — will be published and distributed around the state.
Since 1986, Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom has served as an educational resource for Wyoming, focusing on critical thinking, problem solving and hands on learning. The resources include agricultural and natural resource curriculum, educator institutes and recognizing student and educator achievement.
