Powell man arrested again after alleged drunken crash

A man awaiting trial on allegations that he bit two Powell police officers in June and scuffled with Park County Sheriff’s deputies in August is alleged to have drunkenly crashed into a parked vehicle and an outbuilding in rural Cody last month.

John P.W. Bradish, 36, was free on bond at the time of the Sunday, Nov. 24 crash on Lane 20. Bradish’s bond has since been revoked and he remained in jail on Wednesday.

In last month’s incident, charging documents allege that Bradish left Lane 20, drove onto a piece of private property and crashed into a Jeep parked in the driveway around 5:30 p.m. The Jeep suffered “considerable” rear-end damage and was pushed into and dented a garage, according to charging documents; Bradish’s truck was also damaged, with debris reportedly littered across the property.

The Park County Sheriff’s Office had a blood sample drawn to officially determine the amount of alcohol in Bradish’s system, but a preliminary breath test administered several hours after the crash roughly pegged his blood alcohol content at 0.283 percent. A person is considered too intoxicated to drive at 0.08 percent.

Bradish has been charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while under the influence of alcohol for a second time in 10 years and — because he reportedly was uncooperative with deputies — interference with a peace officer.

He has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

Charging documents say that when deputies arrived at the scene, Bradish put his hands up, but refused orders to get down on the ground. When he appeared to start walking aggressively toward one of the deputies, Sgt. Dan Walker shot Bradish with a Taser to subdue him.

Bradish smelled strongly of alcohol and was “argumentative, combative and very unstable on his feet” throughout the encounter, Deputy Phil Johnson wrote in an affidavit. Johnson rode along as an ambulance crew from Cody Regional Health took Bradish to the hospital and “[I] had to physically restrain John Bradish the whole time because was being extremely unruly,” the deputy wrote.

A few hours later, he was released from the hospital and booked into the Park County Detention Center.

The November incident marked the third time in five months that Bradish has been arrested for interfering with officers, with each incident involving alcohol.

On June 23, a “very intoxicated” Bradish allegedly caused a disturbance inside and outside Powell’s K-Bar Saloon. Powell police tried to give him a ride home, charging documents say, but Bradish eventually said to take him to jail and began fighting with officers — allegedly biting two of them on the hand.

He’s pleaded not guilty to two felony charges of causing bodily injury to a peace officer and misdemeanor counts of interference with a peace officer and breach of peace in connection with that altercation.

Bradish was released from jail when $7,500 was posted on his behalf a couple days after the incident, but he was re-arrested on new allegations on Aug. 8.

In that incident, Bradish pulled into a driveway on McCullough Road in rural Cody and allegedly caused a disturbance while refusing to leave.

Deputies reportedly tried reasoning with Bradish, but the apparently intoxicated man refused, prompting deputies to forcibly take him to the ground. Bradish allegedly kept resisting after that, including trying to pinch one of the deputies.

Bradish faces misdemeanor counts of driving while under the influence of alcohol for a second time in 10 years, breach of peace, criminal trespassing, property destruction and interference with a peace officer in connection with that incident. He has pleaded not guilty.

Bradish was re-released on a signature bond on Sept. 12 so he could attend a substance abuse treatment program in Utah.
