On Thursday, Powell Golf Club hosted its fifth couples tournament of the summer, with pairs playing in a 3X3X3 tournament. In this game, teams play three holes of best ball, three holes of alternate shot and three holes of scramble.
West and Katie Hernandez won the tournament, posting a total score of 28. The group won a purse of $100 for their first-place finish.
Six strokes back, Rich and Kris Olmsted finished in second place with a 34. In third, David and Julie Frost logged a score of 34.9.
Six teams tied for fourth place with scores of 35: Troy and Ashley Hildebrand, Steve and Alice Janes, Bryan and Laurie Lee, Bob and Cathy Mason, Thomas and Kami Scott and Thom and Barbara Seliga.
In two weeks, the course will host its final couples tournament of the summer, a castaway scramble. While billed as a couples event, any male/female duo is welcome to compete.
