Players, coach selected for boys’ soccer All-Star Game

Posted

Powell High School boys’ soccer players Sam Bauer and Landon Sessions, as well as head coach David Gilliatt, have been selected for the Wyoming All-Star Boys’ Soccer Game. The game will be played in Gillette at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 19 and features some of the best senior players from across the state.

Bauer and Sessions were both All-State and All-Conference players this year. A forward, Bauer finished second in 3A with 10 assists, also scoring 10 goals. And Sessions was among the state’s top defenders, also contributing with two goals.

Gilliatt attributed the PHS seniors’ selections to their hard work, both in practice and in games.

“It’s not something that I choose,” the coach said. “It speaks to their integrity on the field: They work hard and leave it out there. It just illustrates the work ethic of those players.

Gilliatt has been at the helm since 2019, posting a 27-8-1 record in that span. Most recently, he led the Panthers to a 14-3 record and second-place finish at state.

“It’s a big honor,” Gilliatt said. “It’s nice to be recognized for the effort that you put in as a coach, but I think the majority of the recognition goes to my players. A coach isn’t anything without his players, and their effort in practice and games motivated me to be better, so credit to them.”
