Wrapping up the regular season with a home triangular and a road quad in Worland, the Powell Panther girls’ swim and dive team benefited from the return of a couple of top swimmers before heading into the postseason.
Starting with a home triangular on Oct. 15, the Panthers welcomed Cody and Worland for their final home meet of the season.
Kaitlin Diver was the only two event winner of the day, winning the 200 IM in a time of 2 minutes, 25.85 seconds, and the 500 free in 5:41.18.
Panther Patricia Christensen returned to the pool, winning the 100 free in 1:01.56.
Addy Powell also returned, placing second in the 100 back (1:19.85) and sixth in the 50 free (29.49).
Other top 10 finishers for the Panthers included Samantha Young, who placed fourth in the 100 fly (1:26.65) and the 500 free (7:01.2); Anika Anderson placed fifth in the 100 fly (1:27.32); Kumora Snell placed fifth in the 100 back (1:16.81) and ninth in the 50 free (32.71); Tempie Day placed fifth in the 500 free (7:15.69); Leah Sockey placed sixth in the 200 free (3:50.68) and ninth in the 100 free (1:32.5); Myah Rakness placed sixth in diving (116.95); Brooke Brown placed seventh in the 100 free (1:10.33); Claire Hultgren placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:45.6) and Ellidi Joy placed eighth in the 100 back (2:14.19).
The highest placing relay came from Christensen, Anderson, Diver and Snell in the 200 medley where they placed second in 2:14.
Overall Cody won the meet with 200 points, while Worland finished with 139 and Powell had 115.
After the meet on Tuesday the Panthers made the trip to Worland on Friday, taking part in a quad that added Buffalo to the mix in addition to the same teams from the final home meet.
No Panthers won an individual event at the meet, but Diver earned second place finishes in the 200 free (2:12.36) and 100 breast (1:16.38) while Christensen was second in the 100 back (1:05.7) and third in the 200 free (2:21.16).
Powell also earned a third place finish in the 100 free (1:06.47) while taking 10th in the 50 free (29.62).
Other top 10 individual finishes included Young placing fifth in the 200 IM (3:04) and sixth in the 100 fly (1:25.42); Snell placing fifth in the 100 back (1:16.59); Rakness placing eighth in diving (121.95); Brown placing eighth in the 100 free (1:09.88) and ninth in the 100 back (1:21.42) and Charlotte Beeton placing eighth in the 500 free (7:58.02).
In the team scores Cody finished first with 351 points, Worland was second with 313, Buffalo was third with 216 and Powell was fourth with 201.
Powell now heads on the road for the remainder of the season, heading to Newcastle to take part in the 3A North Conference meet Friday-Saturday.
The Panthers are the current defending team champions of the meet, having won the conference title three times in a row and four times in the last five seasons.
