PHS alumni reunion allows plenty of ‘catching up time’

Posted

Chatting it up will be the common denominator for day-long events at the all-class Powell High School alumni reunion Saturday, July 6.

Friday’s schedule calls for the all-class Panther Open Golf Tournament at 10 a.m., after which individual classes break out in their own reunion activities all around town. The Saturday program for the 104th consecutive PHS Alumni Association reunion brings everyone together in several venues throughout the day.

The free Alumni Breakfast kicks off Saturday’s events at 8 a.m. at the American Legion Hall. Powell Rotary Club sponsors the breakfast, covering all costs of the food and coordinating preparation and service. It’s one of Rotary’s community service projects during the year.

For all alumni swimmers, the Alumni Challenge Swim Meet is open at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Powell Aquatic Center.

Also starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, the PHS Class of 1968 invites everyone to a no-host  gathering of all classes at Washington Park. There will be no food supplied, but everyone is invited to stop by and chat between 1 and 4 p.m.

Culminating event of the alumni weekend is the “Bands, Beer and Bonfire” evening of entertainment at the Park County Fairgrounds at 6 p.m.
