After Powell’s largest parade was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Park County Fair Parade is returning this year with the theme “The Tradition Lives On.” The parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday in downtown Powell.
The parade route is north down Bent Street to Sixth Street, finishing at the Park County Fairgrounds.
“This annual event is open to all, and a great way to end your fair week,” said Linda Kolpitcke, a parade organizer with Dano Youth Camp.
This year’s parade is hosted by the Dano Youth Camp, which was established in memory of the life and character of Danny “Dano” Ostrom. The nonprofit organization was founded on four basic principles that drive the nature of the camp: physical, spiritual, emotional and social. In addition, Dano camps focus on building valuable skills applicable to the backcountry as well as everyday life, including leadership, communication, self-discipline and teamwork.
The deadline for entries was July 21. For more information, contact Kolpitcke at 307-250-0683 or Joyce Ostrom at 307-272-9586.
