After a 1-1 start, Powell volleyball hit the road for Buffalo on Saturday for a set of matches. The Panthers split the weekend, defeating Buffalo 3-2 and falling 3-1 to Wheatland.
In the first match, against the hosting Bison, Powell took the first set 25-22, but it was neck-and-neck for the rest of the contest.
PHS dropped the second set 25-18, then rallied to win the third 25-19. However, Buffalo was able to force a decisive fifth set by eking out a 27-25 win in the fourth. The Panthers, however, put away the Bison in the final set, winning 15-10 for their second win of the year.
Against Wheatland, Powell once again started hot, taking the first set 25-13. The Panthers, however, weren’t able to sustain this success. Wheatland took the following sets 25-12, 25-20 and 25-15 to claim a 3-1 win.
Individual statistics for the Panthers were not available at press time.
Now 2-2, the Powell volleyball squad is set to play its final non-conference match on Saturday in Pinedale. The contest is set to begin at 10 a.m.
