The Powell High School football team lost its second straight road game to a top-ranked team on Friday night, falling to Cody 38-14.

Ranked No. 2 in the state in 3A, the Broncs jumped out to a 17-0 first quarter lead. However, the Panthers battled back in the second quarter. Carson Olsen blocked a Cody punt deep in Broncs' territory and recovered the loose ball to give Powell its best field position of the game. Panther quarterback Landon Lengfelder scored on a QB keeper a couple of plays later to cut the lead to 17-7.

That was as close as Powell would get, however, as the Broncs scored twice more to take a 31-7 lead into the half; they later pushed the lead to 38-7.

On a third-and-11 with just under three minutes to go in the game, Lengfelder hit Braily Gann for a 35-yard touchdown pass; Hawkin Sweeney's PAT made it 38-14, That was the final, as Cody ran out the clock on it next possession.

After a brutal two-game road stretch, the Panthers will look to rebound next Friday at home against Green River. It's the final home game of the season for the Panthers, who will honor their seniors before the contest.
