PHS tennis traveled to Casper for matches against Natrona County and Kelly Walsh on Saturday. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams went 1-1 in the contests.

Against Natrona Country, both squads won 5-0.

The boys’ team surrendered just one set, with the other four Panther competitors winning quickly in two. The No. 3 doubles team of Kalin Hicswa and Wesley Preator was most dominant against Natrona County, winning their match 6-0, 6-1.

None of the girls lost a set, and Powell’s No. 1 and No. 2 singles players — Ashley Dunkerley and Sami Cole — won their matches by double bagels. Also, the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams of Whitney Hull/Chase Anderson and Kaili Wisniewski/Sydney Hull took 6-0 wins in the second sets of their matches.

The Panthers’ second match, against Kelly Walsh, didn’t go as well, as both the boys’ and girls’ teams lost 5-0. The No. 2 doubles squad of Hull/Anderson on the girls’ side was the only pairing to take a set, winning the second set 6-3.

Powell begins the postseason this weekend with regionals set to be played on Friday and Saturday at Cody High School. Both teams enter the tournament 4-7 overall.
