The weather cooperated for the second weekend in a row, allowing the Powell Panther golf team to get another round on the books in Thermopolis, posting a team score of 350 to finish second to Lovell on Friday.

Leading the way for Powell was Trey Scott, who posted a career best 82 in a tie for eighth place.

“He works hard on his game and plays as much golf as anyone that we have so it is really nice to see that paying off for him,” coach Troy Hildebrand said. “He finished the day with only one six on his card so he did a great job of avoiding any big numbers.”

Just behind Scott was Andrew Jones, who also shot a career best 86 and tied for 16th.

“He really had all aspects of his game going pretty well and this will be a great round for him to build off of in the future,” Hildebrand said.

Jackson Hill finished third for the team and 18th overall, posting an 88.

“He is becoming much more consistent and with a strong summer he could easily be a player in the low 80s for us next fall,” Hildebrand said.

Seth Siebert was the final Panther playing in Thermopolis, finishing 25th with a 94.

“Seth avoided any big trouble but early on he had some struggles off the tee and with his putting,” Hildebrand said. “However, the final few holes of his round were a bright spot and something for him to use as a springboard into this week at home.”

Powell returns home this week, and Hildebrand is hopeful the spring weather will allow the Panthers to host their round on Friday at the Powell Golf Club.

The tournament starts at 10 a.m. and Hildebrand is hopeful the Panthers will be able to have more competitors involved for Powell, and says there will be about seven teams in attendance.
