Panther athletes recognized for good sportsmanship

During the course of the 2019-20 academic year, multiple Panther athletes stood out for their good sportsmanship on the field, court and mat.

Wyoming High School Activities Association Commissioner Ron Laird and Associate Commissioner Trevor Wilson recognized Panther athletes with Good Sportsmanship Awards this school year.

They commended students’ exemplary conduct in announcing the awards in letters to PHS Principal Tim Wormald. The Park County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees also recognized award recipients.

“Sportsmanship is a goal that all our coaches and athletes should have as they participate in activities,” Laird wrote. “I am pleased to hear that your students and coaches understand the true meaning of participation.”

The commissioner said he appreciates students and coaches for joining the RIDE by demonstrating respect, integrity, dedication and encouragement.

The following PHS athletes and coach were recognized with Good Sportsmanship Awards this school year:

• Kadden Abraham for the Worland vs. Powell football game on Sept. 6.

• Gabby Harshman for the Thermopolis vs. Powell volleyball game on Sept. 12.

• Carson Olsen for the Lander Valley vs. Powell football game on Sept. 13. Olsen also was recognized for the Douglas vs. Powell football game on Sept. 20.

• Reed Smith for the Douglas vs. Powell football game on Sept. 20.

• Gabi Metzler for the Cody vs. Powell volleyball match on Sept. 26.

• Coach Brandon Preator for the State Tennis Tournament on Sept. 26-28.

• Riley Bennett for the Evanston vs. Powell football game on Sept. 27.

• Michele Wagner for the Lander vs. Powell volleyball match on Oct. 17.

• Rose Graft for the Worland vs. Powell volleyball match on Oct. 18.

• Seth Horton for the Green River vs. Powell football game on Oct. 18. Horton also was recognized for the Cody vs. Powell semi-final football game on Nov. 8.

• Sidney O’Brien and Aidan Jacobsen for the Cody vs. Powell basketball games on Jan. 10.

• Jaden Marchant for the Wind River vs. Powell basketball game on Jan. 17.

• Jesse Brown for the Powell vs. Burlington basketball game on Jan. 17.

• Landon Lengfelder for the Rocky Mountain vs. Powell basketball game on Jan. 18.

• Kortny Feller and Trevor Groves for the Worland vs. Powell basketball games on Jan. 24.

• Paije Johnson and Toran Graham for the Lander vs. Powell basketball games on Jan. 25.
