A slight boost in participants this year saw a competitive Powell Aquatic Center (PAC) Triathlon on Saturday, where beautiful weather had competitors around Montana and Wyoming putting up top times.
“It was a beautiful day, we couldn’t have asked for better weather,” PAC co-director Tanya Bonner said.
The overall winner for the women’s competition was Powell’s own Kinley Bollinger with a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes and 51 seconds, while the men’s winner was Dan Lavy of Laurel, with a time of 1:14.18.
WOMEN’S RESULTS
Runner up to Bollinger overall and the sole competitor in the women’s 46-49-year-old division was Jen Robertus with a 1:18.28.
Behind Bollinger in the 20 and under division was Melissa Merritt with a 1:28.55 and Emma Thompson rounded out the 20 and under category with a 2:10.09.
Alexis Payne was the sole competitor in the 24-30-year-old division with a time of 1:48.09.
Bonner said that this was the first ever competition for Merritt, Thompson and Payne.
Lauren Williams finished fourth overall and was the sole competitor in the 36-40-year-old division with a time of 1:32.03.
Anna O’Donnell won the 41-45 year old division with a 1:41.23, just ahead of Kristin Thompson who finished in 1:42.24.
MEN’S RESULTS
Just behind Lavy by only 30 seconds was Arthur Thompson who finished in 1:14.49 and was the sole competitor in the 41-45-year-old division.
Daniel Merritt was third with a time of 1:19.5 and was the only competitor 20 and under.
The men’s 66-70 year old division had three competitors, with Adam Sutcliff coming out on top with a 1:22.43, Jim Thomas-DeJongh with a 1:30.07 and John Housel with a 1:41.42.
TEAM RESULTS
Winning the coed team division was the squad of Kaitlin Diver, Alex Aguirre and Michela Morrissey with a 1:20.31.
Runner up was the team of Jeanna Merritt, Jenna Merritt and Alan Merritt with a 1:22.5.
“I feel like this event is like a family reunion,” Bonner said. “Everyone knows each other and supports one another.”
In third for the coed teams was Eric Olsen, Tim Baxter and Rinda Eastman with a 1:24.05.
Rounding out the coed teams was the couple of Kaycee Laughery and Bo Laughery with a 1:42.03.
The sole all-women’s team was Susan Duyck, Tabitha Winninger and Kelsey Tobin with a 1:28.07.
