When classes begin on Aug. 26, students will see some new faces in Powell schools.

The following employees were recently hired to work in Park County School District No. 1:

Jerry Bellmyer

Special education teacher at Powell High School

After serving as a teacher and coach for 25 years in Moline, Illinois, Jerry Bellmyer then worked as a special education teacher in Cowley at Rocky Mountain High School for the past five years. He will begin teaching special education at Powell High School this month.

Bellmyer has a bachelor’s degree in physical education and special education from Oklahoma Christian University. He also received a master’s degree in adapted physical education from Illinois State University.

Jaime Bessler

Special education teacher at Parkside Elementary School

Jaime Bessler recently completed her student teaching in elementary/special education and received her bachelor’s degree in May. Bessler will serve as a special education teacher at Parkside Elementary School.

Previously, she worked as a special education paraeducator for the Powell district for three years prior to resigning to finish her degree. She also worked for The Learning Garden and Children’s Resource Center, working with children ages 3-5, before coming to the district.

Kerry Breen

Physical therapist districtwide

Kerry Breen received her master’s degree in physical therapy from University of Scranton. She worked at the Bighorn Basin Orthopedic Center starting in 2003 and continued to work there after they were acquired by Gottsche Rehab and Wellness, for a total of 11 years.

Breen then went to work for Cody Regional Health/West Park Hospital for 1 1/2 years, and worked as a physical therapist for Park County School District No. 6 in Cody for the last school year.

Breen will now serve as a physical therapist for the Powell district, serving students districtwide. This was a contracted service in the past.

Jill Ferguson

First-grade teacher at Parkside Elementary School

After working as a paraeducator at Parkside Elementary since 2013, Jill Ferguson will return to Parkside this month in a new position, teaching first grade at the school.

Ferguson received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming in elementary education. She also has a master’s degree from Chadron State College in educational administration. Ferguson taught in Rawlins for nine years, and one year in Lovell.

Adrienne Harvey

Occupational therapist districtwide

With 18 years of experience in occupational therapy, Adrienne Harvey is returning to the Powell district. She previously worked for the district until 2010. Harvey has been working at the Children’s Resource Center for the past nine years.

Harvey received her bachelor’s degree in biology at Jamestown College, and her master’s degree in occupational therapy from University of Indianapolis.

Kaitlin M. Loeffen

Science teacher at Powell High School

Kaitlin M. Loeffen first started working in the Powell district as a substitute teacher in December 2017. She then began her student teaching in January at Powell High School, and will now teach science there.

Loeffen has a bachelor’s degree in biology and exercise science from Black Hills State University and a master’s degree in secondary education, also from Black Hills State University.

Kenli Metzger

Second-grade teacher at Parkside Elementary School

Kenli Metzger received her bachelor’s degree from University of Wyoming in elementary education. During the past school year, she taught elementary school in Meeteetse.

Amy Moore

Part-time English teacher at Powell High School

Following 11 years as a substitute teacher in the Powell district, Amy Moore will teach English at Powell High School in a new part-time position.

Moore received her first bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Utah State University and her second in English education from Valley City State University. She received her master’s degree at the end of 2018 in curriculum and instruction from Lesley University.

Christy Muecke

Special education teacher at Southside Elementary School

After teaching special education at Park County School District No. 6 in Cody, Christy Muecke will return to the Powell district as a special education teacher at Southside Elementary School.

Muecke received her bachelor’s degree from Chadron State College in secondary education social studies, and her master’s degree in special education from Western Governors University.

Prior to getting her special education degree, she served as the work experience paraeducator at Powell High School for six years.

She also was the education coordinator/teacher for the Northwest Wyoming Treatment Center for six years.

Amy Quick

Fourth-grade teacher at Parkside Elementary School

Amy Quick received her bachelor’s degree from University of Colorado-Boulder in anthropology, ecology and evolutionary biology. She then went to University of Colorado-Denver to receive her licensure in elementary education.

Quick has taught for four years in Aurora, Colorado, and is moving to Cody to be closer to family.

Emilee Reasch

English language arts teacher at Powell Middle School

A graduate of Lovell High School, Emilee Reasch was hired to teach English language arts at Powell Middle School. Reasch received her bachelor’s degree from University of Wyoming in secondary English education and then completed her student teaching at Rock Springs High School.

Jessie Rode

Elementary media teacher for the elementary schools

A Powell High School graduate, Jessie Rode went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Valley City State University in elementary education.

She taught for one year in Thermopolis before moving back to Powell in 2015-16.

Rode served as a longterm substitute for the elementary media teacher during the 2018-19 school year, and will now assume the position full-time. Prior to the 2018-19 school year, Rode was a para at Westside Elementary School for two years.

She has enrolled in an instructional media program to receive her library media endorsement.
