While there were five seats up for election this fall on the Northwest College Board of Trustees, there was only one new face who took his seat on the board for the first time Monday.
Shane Ogden, superintendent of Park County School District 16 in Meeteetse, was sworn in at the start of the meeting. He replaces longtime trustee and Meeteetse archaeologist and professor Larry Todd.
Ogden said he was excited for the opportunity.
Trustees also played a small bit of musical chairs as trustee Denise Laursen was nominated as the new chair and R.J. Kost the new vice chair. Laursen, elected to the board in 2022, had previously been vice chair and took the spot of previous chair Tara Kuipers. Kost was appointed to the board in December of 2023 to fill former trustee Dusty Spomer’s term and then elected in November to fill the remaining two years of the term.
Bob Newsome will remain in the treasurer position after winning a third term on the board.
