New Cody shelter set for Saturday grand opening

After years of work, the new Park County Animal Shelter in Cody is built and ready for the public.

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration for the new facility, located at 3 Arrow Ave., is set for Saturday.

The event will kick off at noon with opening remarks and the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon. Building tours will begin at 12:15 p.m., with a new tour offered every 20 minutes. Due to the amount of people anticipated, all visitors will be asked to wear a mask inside the shelter.

From noon to 3 p.m., the Weiner Wagon will be on site selling gourmet hot dogs, while donating all of their tips back to the animal shelter. Signing in at the event also gives attendees a chance to win a gift basket.

A large section of the parking lot will be closed to make space for the food truck and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Parking will be available in the gravel lot on the east side of the building, or along Arrow Avenue, with carpooling encouraged.

“Additionally, we kindly ask you to refrain from bringing your own pets to the shelter,” organizers said, “While we love to see their smiling faces on any given day, the grand opening event is not the best place for owned pets.”
