Mothers’ Milk Bank opens donation, outreach center in Cody

CODY — The Cody hospital now has a new way for local mothers to support those in need.

Cody Regional Health’s Women’s Health and Nursery recently announced the opening of a human milk Donation & Outreach Center in partnership with Mothers’ Milk Bank (MMB), a Colorado-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting families and babies across the nation. As one of only four centers in Wyoming, this new center provides Park County area mothers with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of infants by donating their surplus breast milk to help those in need.

To celebrate this milestone, Cody Regional Health will host an Open House and Ribbon Cutting on Jan. 21, 2025, at noon at Cody Regional Women’s Health and Nursery, located on the second floor of the building at 707 Sheridan Ave. Community members are invited to join the event, meet the team, and learn more about Mothers' Milk Bank and how it supports mothers and infants in the area.

“We are thrilled to partner with Mothers’ Milk Bank to open this Donation and Outreach Center in Cody,” said Vicki Sarver, Women’s Health & Nursery director at Cody Regional Health. “This center provides an incredible opportunity for local mothers with surplus breast milk to make a meaningful impact on babies in need. By supporting families during such a critical time, we’re helping ensure that every baby has access to the essential nutrients and immune protection that only human milk can provide.”

Cody Regional Health’s team will safely transport the milk donations to the Colorado facility, where it will be pasteurized, tested, analyzed and distributed to babies across the country whose mothers cannot supply sufficient milk for their needs.

Potential donors interested in giving the gift of human milk may fill out the donation screening form on MMB’s website, milkbankcolorado.org, or call 303.869.1888. For more information on MMB and its efforts to provide milk to babies who need it nationwide, visit milkbankcolorado.org.
