Marjorie Ellen Cook, 83, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side on Feb. 21, 2019.

Marjorie was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Powell to Clarence and Mollie (Mauch) Malliot. Marjorie met Arthur Edwin (Bud) Cook in 1950 in Powell. There was an instant spark. They were married Dec. 24, 1951, and made their home in Powell. They farmed in the Willwood area for over 40 years. In their golden years, they purchased a home located near Northwest College. Marjorie had worked at Northwest College for over a decade and enjoyed retiring nearby. Marjorie was involved in many clubs during her lifetime, including Willwood Women’s Club, and thoroughly enjoyed the many friendships that were formed during that time.

Marjorie loved to garden and many times had a garden that was over an acre. Her gardens were very productive and produced prize-winning vegetables.

Her love of animals was very apparent by the many animals that were fostered and cared for on the farm.

Marjorie was a loving mother and wonderful grandmother who was very proud of her family. She loved visiting/entertaining a variety of friends at her home, and had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep way and help them through the toughest of times. She was an excellent listener and inspired people.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Arthur (Bud), her parents and her granddaughter Leslie Cook.

Marjorie is survived by her five children Colleen E Riley of Powell, Randy E Cook of Indian Land, South Carolina, Donna Garland of Sheridan, Diane Marney of Sheridan, Amy McCaffrey of Amelia, Virginia; three sisters Ruth Smith of Moorcroft, Lois Sifert (Chuck) of Lewistown, Montana, and Eleanor Echols of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Taylor Riley, Ellen Nelsen (Justin), Allison Cook, Jonathan Cook, Lance Cook, Julie Moore (Ron), Dan Keeler (Kate), Rob Marney (Nicole), Jennifer Lydic (Ian), Chris McCaffrey (Ann), James McCaffrey, and stepgrandchild Harley Klym. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren Noah Nelsen, Kaylie Nelsen, Elijah Bohnstengel, Easton Bohnstengel, Gabrielle Moore, Andrew Moore, Grace Moore, Bryce Lydic, Nathaniel Lydic, Lyla Marney, Ella Marney, Wes Marney, Anna Niles, Kristyn Niles, Rebekah Niles, and Ryan Niles.

Family, friends and others whose lives Marjorie touched are invited to a celebration of her life, which will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson’s Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. (There will be a luncheon immediately following services at the American Legion Hall in Powell.)

Memorial donations may be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody. Condolences may be sent to P.O. Box 407, Powell, WY 82435.
