Marchant competes in Montana-Wyoming All-Star Games

Posted

While Mason Marchant’s high school career ended a couple months ago, he had one last chance to step on the hardwood on Saturday.

A recent Powell High School graduate, Marchant competed in the Midland Roundtable Montana-Wyoming All-Star Basketball Series in Lockwood, Montana. He was one of 10 boys’ basketball players selected to represent Wyoming at the showcase.

“It was a really big honor to represent Powell and Wyoming because there aren’t very many kids that get to experience that in their careers,” Marchant said. “Being selected for that was truly a blessing and a bittersweet way to end my high school basketball career.”

Wyoming faltered in the game, losing 110-71 to its rival to the north. Marchant scored four points in the loss.

Though his team didn’t win the all-star contest, it was an unforgettable experience for the former PHS hooper.

“The coolest part of the experience was meeting new people that are now my lifelong friends and just being able to experience and play with that kind of competition,” Marchant said.

As a senior, Marchant led Powell in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, both third in the 3A West Conference. He was named to the 2020-21 3A All-State Team.
