Luz (Lucy) Davina Berrios Dorothy passed away at her home Nov. 7, 2020, with her family by her side.

Lucy came into this world April 25, 1930, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, to parents, Pedro and Providencia Berrios. As one of eight children, she enjoyed games, pranks and adventures with her siblings.

She attended school and University in Puerto Rico. It was there she met the love of her life, Carl Dorothy, who was stationed there with the Army. The couple was married July 5, 1957, in Rio Piedras and later relocated to Douglas, Wyoming, where their daughter Leslie was born. In 1976, they moved to Powell, where she became the secretary “office manager” of Butane Power and Equipment.

In 1984, Lucy and Carl became Big Horn Basin Boat Club members. Lucy loved the lake and cherished the memories and friends she made while a member. She was always the life of the party while enjoying happy hour on their deck overlooking the water.

Lucy loved to cook, and would often have a house full for lunch. Leslie’s friends always felt at home with her, and this feeling continued with the friends of her granddaughters. Sharing her delicious food and having a house full always brought her joy. Her family cherishes the recipes she passed along to them.

She would spend hours sewing and crocheting. She imparted these skills to her granddaughters and great-granddaughter. She also loved garage sales, “junking,” and was never one to pass up a great deal or offer, even if that meant selling your shoes off your feet or your favorite doll. She also enjoyed her time working in her “boutique” at the Methodist Church thrift store where she made many friends. She was a fun and exciting grandma and “GG” to her granddaughters and great-grandkids. Her stories, games and trips to “Goldilocks house” will never be forgotten.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Providencia, two brothers, and one sister.

She is survived by her husband Carl Dorothy; daughter Leslie; son-in-law Ray; granddaughters Kelsi (Chad) Curtis and Kami (Jeremy) Smith; great-grandchildren Alex, McKenna, Aiden, and Kobbe Smith, and Braeden and Ryan Curtis; sisters Provita and Miriam and brothers Pedro and Gama.

Lucy went with the same feisty spirit that so many remember.

A celebration of life will be held this summer to celebrate her life and memory. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Stillwater Hospice of Northern Wyoming 444 Montana Avenue, Lovell, WY, 82431 or an animal rescue of your choice.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Kelly Christensen, Stillwater Hospice, Gerri Ackley, Joni Bennett, and Sandra Leonard for their support in Lucy’s final days.
