Lovell scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Powell 9-8 in the first game of an American Legion C doubleheader Saturday at Lovell. The Mustang C team then made it a sweep with an 8-1 win in the second contest.
Pioneer C team Coach Tyler Feller got a solid pitching effort from Max Reynolds in the first game. Reynolds went 5.2 innings, struck out six and allowed just four earned runs.
“He had a great outing,” Feller said.
Cole Fauskee had two hits for the Pioneers.
In the second game, Jordan Loera and Taeson Schultz handled the pitching duties.
“Errors got us in the end,” Feller said of his team’s five official miscues.
Fauskee, Brody Payne, Trevion Solberg, Kaiden Jones and Schultz hit safely for Powell in the second game.
