Kringle House food drive makes progress

Chris Pelletier sent $1,000 to Santa to go grocery shopping this week. After he added that food to all the material already donated, Pelletier dropped off a total of 2,208 pounds of food to Powell Valley Loaves and Fishes.

Pelletier set out to do a food drive this Christmas season, and at a little house on Bernard Street, he didn’t just deck the halls with boughs of holly. He decked every room with every Christmas decoration you can imagine. He put down a life size Nativity scene in the yard, and then covered the exterior in lights.

Pelletier opens the Kringle House every evening and on weekends, asking for donations and food to help those in need this holiday. The house is open through Christmas Eve.

His goal was to bring in three tons of food. While he’s not sure he’s going to hit that target, Pelletier said he’s very happy with the donations the project has raised so far.

“I’m not complaining,” he said.

And Pelletier still thinks he could pull in another ton before the season is over.
