Kath graduates with honors from law school

Emily Kath of Powell graduated with honors from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in Chicago on May 17.

While at Northwestern, Kath served as the managing editor for the Journal of Law and Social Policy, as an international fellow for the International Programs Office, University Liaison for the Women’s Leadership Coalition, Juvenile Justice Clinic and school service tutor for Lurie Children’s Hospital. She also served as a summer law clerk for the City of Chicago Law department, Legal Counsel Division and was a summer associate for the Chicago law firm of Winston and Strawn.

Kath is currently studying for the bar exam and will begin serving as a judicial law clerk for Judge Alan Johnson, United States District Court for the District of Wyoming, in September.

The daughter of Meg and Scott Kath, she graduated from Powell High School in 2012 and then received her bachelor of science degree in political science, magna cum laude, in May 2016, from the University of Wyoming. While at UW, Kath was an active member in the Tri Delta sorority, served as the ASUW freshman senate presiding officer, vice president of ASUW, received the Milward Simpson Award for Outstanding Political Science Major and University of Wyoming Woman of Distinction Award.

She also served as a personal office intern to U.S. Sen. John Barrasso in Washington, D.C., from August 2014-December 2014, and spent an International Study abroad semester at the Lorenzo de Medici International Institute in Florence, Italy, from January 2014-May 2014. There she was also a journalism intern for the Florentine Newspaper/Lorenzo de Medici News and was recognized with the Student of the Semester Award by the institute.
