Powell High School’s junior varsity wrestling squad took the mat last week for a home dual against its cross-county rival, Cody. The Panthers won two of the seven matches on Jan. 12, dropping the dual 27-9.
Merced Jordan-Silva picked up one of the victories for PHS in the 160 weight class. He pinned Cody’s Ben Seibert in 2:18, giving the Panthers six points.
In the Panthers’ last match of the evening, PHS’s Adam Flores won over Zac Barton. Flores won in an 8-3 decision to add three points to Powell’s total score.
The Panthers hit the road Thursday for their next contest. Along with the varsity team, the PHS JV will compete in a dual against the Warriors, which begins at 3 p.m.
