June happenings at the library

Summer reading is here at all Park County libraries. This year’s theme is Ocean of Possibilities and the Powell Library has the June calendar filled with ocean-themed activities to encourage reading for all ages.

All ages are welcome to come by the library on Tuesday, June 14, at 2 p.m. for Mr. Kneel’s Hip Hop/Beat Box Performance. This will be a fun-filled performance for all families. Join us on Tuesday, June 28, at 2 p.m. for a performance by Australian musician and storyteller Paul Taylor. 

On June 8, at 2 p.m., join us for a Book Discussion. Stop by the library to pick up the book.  Join us on Monday, June 13, at 2 p.m., to learn about the Hidden Treasures on Bent Street with Brandi Wright from the Homesteader Museum. Then join us on Tuesday, June 21, at 7 p.m., for a Scuba Presentation to explore the underwater world with Master Divers.

Sign up for Monday, June 27, when Tippet Rise Art Program will be visiting and offering Notan Art Paper Cutting at 1 p.m. Stop by and sign up for a time slot for Summer Story Slam on June 30, at 6 p.m., and tell a true unscripted story in five minutes or less. 

There will be tons of fun activities for teens at the Powell Library. Teens are encouraged to come by on June 9 at 1:30 p.m. for Mermaid Scrub Craft and then on June 16, at 1:30 p.m., stop by to learn to Tie Sailor Knots. On June 17, at 1 p.m., join us for Movie and a Game.

Make sure to sign up for Juneteenth Self Portraits on June  20 at 1 p.m. 

On June 23, at 1:30 p.m., come and Grow a Pollinating Plant with The Nature Conservancy.

On June 27, at 3 p.m., join us for the Tippet Rise Art Program to learn Watercolor Painting, sign-ups are required. Teens can sign up to Learn to Cook One Pot Meal June 30, at 1:30 p.m.

Powell Library has lots of fun-filled activities for children. Come by on Tuesday, June 7, at 2 p.m., for Life in Wyoming’s Ancient Tropic Ocean and join us on Tuesday, June 21, at 2 p.m., for a virtual program to Investigate Sharks. On Monday, June 27, kids can sign up for 11 a.m. Art with Tippet Rise. Kids will make a Spin Drum. Join Ms. Renee every Monday at 10:30 a.m. for Baby & Toddler Time and every Wednesday at
10:30 a.m. for Story Time. For the month of June, kids come by on Thursday, June 9, 16 and 23, at 10 a.m., for Lego Club and on Thursday, June 30, at 10 a.m., for Cup Stacking.

Stop by on Saturday, June 11,  from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. for the Powell Library Friends Book Sale. The Friends are having a $5 bag sale all month long. Stop by and take home as many books as you can, and support the Powell Library.

We are looking for Powell representation and would love to have the Powell community well-represented. The Foundation only meets a few times a year and we can even meet in the Powell Library.
