Josephine Ellen Norris Ladd, 93, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, of a paralyzing major stroke, at Powell Valley Hospital.

She was born March 22, 1926, near Winona, Missouri, to Otis and Fannie Elizabeth Jordan Norris.

She was married Sept. 25, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Vernon Charles Ladd, son of Charles Edward and Bertha Blanche Dibler Ladd; he had newly received an honorable discharge as a staff sargeant in the Army of World War II. They remained married until he died on May 13, 2002, in Powell. Their 56 years together were very fruitful and happy.

Jo Ladd loved camping, fishing, bowling, hunting, and golfing. When she was young she served as a practical nurse, and later, for many years, she was an upholsterer with her own business. She raised and kept horses, and loved cats and dogs.

She was preceded in death by her grandson Strett Conrad Saylor, her two sisters, Eva Hughes and Lena Thompson, and her two brothers, Gerald Norris and Laird Norris.

Surviving are her children, Sandra Gwen Ladd Saylor, and Gary Alan Ladd, of Powell; her grandchildren: Twila Saylor, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Karma Taylor, of Pineville, Louisiana, Deseri Ladd, of Bozeman, Montana, Cassandra Ladd-Jensen, of Powell, Karyn Lawless, of Bozeman, Montana, Amy Kimmel, of Gallatin Gateway, Montana, Mandy Lohof of Columbus, Montana, and Kelly Lohof, of Columbus, Montana. She is also survived by her 12 great-grandchildren and her three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Marvin Junior Norris, of Willow Springs, Missouri, her sisters-in-law, Vera Ladd and Fayetta Martin, and her brother-in-law Marion Donald Ladd. Also surviving are her many nieces, nephews and friends.

Her ashes will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell. There will be a graveside service to be announced at a later date.
