John Joseph Kranz

John Kranz was born to Pete and Mildred Kranz in Watertown, South Dakota, on Aug. 15, 1937. He joined brother Jim, and throughout the years, a sister Mary, brother Rich, and sister Judy.

The family moved to Powell where his father owned the Gambles store. In high school, John excelled in wrestling, and he graduated in 1955. After high school, John joined the Army to serve his country as a sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division.

After his service, he attended the College of Mortuary Science in San Francisco. He graduated from the school and moved to Salt Lake City, eventually becoming head of staff at Deseret Mortuary. John later moved to Billings, Montana, and then Yuma, Arizona, and worked as a building contractor.

In 2000, John married Tammy Mathis. In 2015, they moved to White Sulphur Springs, Montana, where they resided at the time of his death.

John was preceded in death by his father, mother, and his brother, Rich.

Survivors include his wife Tammy; sons Pete, John, and Jim; daughter, Sharon; step-children Brian, Scott, Summer, and Doran; brother Jim, of Blackwell, Oklahoma; sisters Mary, of Billings, Montana, and Judy, of Gresham, Oregon; and grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in White Sulphur Springs, Montana.
