Janice Marie Lytle, 66, went to meet Jesus on Tuesday morning, Dec. 22, 2020, at the Billings Clinic Hospital, losing her battle with her many health issues and fighting COVID.
Janice was born July 16, 1954, in Bellingham, Washington, to Lionel and Phyllis Compton.
Following graduation Janice attended college to get a degree in business administration in the hospitality field.
Life had certainly given Janice numerous challenges to conquer. Her sister Winifred Compton and Janice had relocated to Cody a number of years ago, untill Janice made Powell her home in 2008. Janice joined Big Horn Enterprises that year.
In the 12 years that Janice lived in Powell her love for her BHE and church family, and the Powell community was amazing. Janice was a very social person and her love and zest for life was contagious. She also had a very strong faith and belief in God. Janice always had a smile and an ear for anyone who needed to talk.
Janice was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 26 and loved all her volunteer work she would do with her beloved friend Willow Hagstrom. She loved volunteering for distribution of commodities and was a great help with all the children’s activities that the auxiliary did. Janice‘s love for helping people and wanting to make a difference was amazing. She loved supporting the Girl Scouts as she was a Girl Scout growing up. Even during the pandemic she found ways to help the community. She would call and check on her neighbors, friends and family.
Her favorite pasttime was playing bingo on Fridays and Sundays at the American Legion. She had many friends at bingo and there were a few ladies who always made sure she was having fun. She really enjoyed her time with Grandma Diane Miller, Nana Terry Biron, Ginger Langdon and Neva Slaught.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents Lionel and Phyllis Compton, her sister Laney Compton, and brother Robert Compton.
She is survived by her sister and best friend Winifred Compton, her brother Ben (Carol) Compton of Alaska, the love of her life Loran (Rease) Braughton and the care givers at BHE who loved her unconditionally because she brought so much joy into their lives.
The public is invited to her memorial Jan. 19, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall.
