It’s time for a revival!

The world today seems to be in commotion. News is filled with accounts of war, political unrest, natural disasters and incomprehensible acts of violence.

Sadly, many of today’s issues are affecting each one of us in one way or another. We can’t help but feel some sense of unrest by all that is going on.                                                                            As bad as things are, even more devastating in the long run is the disobedience to God’s commandments that is engulfing the world. Secular rationalism is growing and our faith is growing stale. We are continually moving away from God. We are relying on the wisdom of man and many seem to believe in their truths. The desire to move away from God is ruining the moral fiber of who we are and is leading us to a place of moral desolation.                                                                                                                   Even though the things happening in our world today seem frightening it is not a time to panic, but a time to prepare. Proverbs 3:5-6 reads “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”.                                                                                                           It is time for us to turn back to God and choose to follow him. It is through him and his son Jesus Christ that we find truth and hope. It is through Christ’s atonement that our burdens are lifted, our sins forgiven, and our sorrows relieved.

Mathew 11: 28-30 reads “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

It is time for a revival; a renewal of our spiritual commitment. If we turn back toward God our lives will be fuller and our hope for the future will be brighter. The Gospel of Jesus Christ provides us a way to bear those things that are before us. Jesus Christ offers us hope regardless of the turmoil that exists. His Atonement gives us the opportunity to be freed from our mistakes and sins. Faith in Jesus Christ will give us the perspective we need to face today’s adversities and the strength we will need for tomorrow. The Gospel of Jesus Christ offers hope and joy even when life is hard.

Attend a church! For those of you who regularly attend, invite a friend or family member to come with you.  Help them understand what brings you each week. Help them feel and understand why you are there.

If you haven’t been in a while, come back. Look past those things that have kept you away and come. If you’ve never been, start attending.  Find a faith and a congregation that you can be part of. Come and find the faith that brings hope for relief from your trials. Let the Spirit of God brighten the days ahead and give you hope in all that you will face.
