Hospital prepares to start interviews for new CEO

Powell Valley Healthcare is moving forward on finding a new CEO.

At a Monday night board meeting Human Resources Director Cassie Tinsley updated the board on the search for a CEO to replace Terry Odom, who announced last summer she would be retiring in the first quarter of 2023, with plans to help with the onboarding of a new CEO.

She said 16 candidates had applied for the position and Billings Clinic has already pre-screened the candidates and the CEO selection committee has been given packets of information on each candidate who passed the initial screening.

“We are working on that feverishly,” said board chair R.J. Kost, a member of the selection committee. “Hopefully we’ll be to the point where we’re doing online interviews next week, then move from there.”

Tinsley said the initial reception to the job posting was positive.

“That was a good pool (of candidates),” she said.

Virtual interviews with the screened candidates are scheduled for next week with the selection committee, with the intent of bringing two to three candidates to Powell for onsite interviews before making the final decision.

Powell will have some competition for filling the spot, as Hot Springs Health in Thermopolis and Three Rivers Health in Basin are also looking for new CEOs.
