The Buffalo Bill Center of the West throws its annual family-friendly Halloween celebration, “Hootin’ Howlin’ Halloween,” on Friday from 2-4:30 p.m.
Families are encouraged to dress in costume and take part in the fun activities as they make their way through the museum’s hub area and Draper Natural History Museum, trick or treating at the various stops along the way.
Attendees will find hands-on activities and crafts to complete and take home, spooky stories to listen to and appearances by some of the live birds — particularly owls and a turkey vulture — of the Draper Museum Raptor Experience.
In one of the particularly popular parts of Hootin’ Howlin’ Halloween, participants get to judge the entries in the annual pumpkin-carving contest.
These jack-o’-lanterns, carved by members of the Center of the West’s own staff, range from beautiful to scary to whimsical. People may cast a vote for their favorite.
Hootin’ Howlin’ Halloween is $5 per child or $15 per family — whichever is less — and free for Center of the West members.
Family Fun Days are also supported in part by a grant from the R. Harold Burton Foundation.
